About i2Audio
i2Audio brand was created by two people fascinated with electronics and music. One of them is Daniel Matuschek who runs popular company HiFiBerry. His goal is to produce special audio accessories for enthusiasts of devices made with Raspberry Pi minicomputer, but the offer is also directed to the professional audio market. The second person is Jörg Schambacher, who is completely dedicated to the development of professional audio solutions within the i2Audio business. He also contributed a lot to the implementation of D-class amplifier technology in the automotive market and achieved a lot of success in his previous managerial positions. Currently, in his spare time, he plays the saxophone and the piano, which shows his true dedication to music.
What is the i2Audio product range and what can you find in Botland?
One of the products available at Botland is a phono preamplifier - i2Audio Phono One. This is a device used in turntables to get the correct tone. The recording of the lowest frequencies takes up the most physical space on the disc, so to save space, a so-called RIAA correction is used, which means that the volume of the low frequencies is lowered by 20 dB. To restore the original sound, a phono preamplifier is required.
The equipment has the difficult task of restoring the volume to the low frequencies while distorting the rest of the recording as little as possible. Phono One is a PCB preamplifier that is designed for MM systems and achieves very low group delay distortion, making the sound very natural. Powerful integrated operational amplifiers and highly linear film capacitors ensure that the preamplifier delivers sound with low noise and distortion. Input impedance is 47 kΩ / 100 pF, and gain is 40 dB. The device is powered by 12 V at 100 mA, has gold-plated RCA connectors (inputs and outputs) and prepared soldering pads.
