Product description: Fermion - H2 hydrogen sensor - MEMS - 0.1-1000 ppm - DFRobot SEN0572
A compact MEMS sensor from DFRobot that allows you to measure the concentration of hydrogen H2 . The detection range is from 0.1 ppm to 1000 ppm . Additionally, the sensor is characterized by low energy consumption, its current consumption does not exceed 20 mA, and the manufacturer estimates the module's lifespan at approximately 5 years . Fermion - H2 hydrogen sensor is used in broadly understood environmental protection, intelligent agriculture, as well as in monitoring industrial processes related to car production.

What is hydrogen and where is it found?
Hydrogen, also known under the chemical symbol H2, is the lightest and most abundant element. It is a colorless, tasteless and odorless gas that exists in the diatomic form (H2) under standard pressure and temperature conditions. Hydrogen is non-toxic, so it is widely used in many areas, including the chemical and refinery industries and as a potential fuel for vehicles powered by hydrogen cells. It can be produced by water electrolysis, methane steam reforming and other methods, including those using renewable energy to minimize carbon dioxide emissions. Its storage and transport require special safety measures due to the high flammability of the gas and the ability to create an explosive mixture with air.
Suggested use of the sensor
- H2 level measurement to monitor ambient air quality
- Monitoring H2 emissions from vehicles to optimize operation
- Leak detection of H2 and other gases in broadly understood industrial processes
- Monitoring the tightness of hydrogen tanks, which become very flammable if leaked
Special features of the sensor
- It has a modernized MEMS system for precise H2 measurement.
- Compact dimensions (13 x 13 x 2.5 mm) allow for easy integration with other project components.
- It has low energy consumption.
- Provides precise and stable value reading.
- It has high sensitivity and short response time.
Precautions during use
- Before using the sensor, remove the protective film from it.
- Avoid using the sensor in an environment where it will be exposed to high concentrations of corrosive gases (such as H2S, SOX, Cl2, HCl, among others).
- Protect the sensor from contamination with alkalis, alkali metal salts and halogens.
- Avoid long-term exposure of the tile to unfavorable environmental conditions (such as high temperatures, high humidity, high pollution).
- Do not expose the module to water.
- Do not expose the module to vibrations, impacts or falls from height.
- Do not test the module in systems that involve personal safety concerns.
Attention!
Fermion - H2 hydrogen sensor - MEMS allows only qualitative measurements. In the case of quantitative measurements, a better solution will be Gravity - hydrogen sensor H2 - I2C / UART - factory calibrated .
