A flow meter is a measuring device that measures the quantities of liquids and gases. Such meters are useful in home applications, also when making various own DIY projects, and find industrial use. Some flow sensors measure the amount of gas or liquid flowing over a certain period of time - this can be 1 L / min or another value. In turn, other flow meters are equipped with functions that allow counting the amount of gas or liquid that has flowed through the test organ of the sensor. Then, on the analog counter or LCD display, you will find information about the air flow in a given amount of liquid. In this category you will find the best gas and liquid flow meters. You can use them for various purposes. In our store's offer you will also find sensors for measuring the pH of the liquid (neutral, acidic, alkaline), as well as checking to what extent the liquid is clean.

How does an electromechanical liquid flow sensor work?
Liquid flow sensors record how much liquid flows in a given tank, but not only. The degree of advancement of the mechanism of operation of liquid flow sensors depends on the technology used. The most common gauging elements for a flow sensor are a small turbine with blades and a Hall sensor.
When water or another liquid flows through the sensor, the resulting pressure of the liquid exerts pressure on the turbine blades. Pressure on the turbine causes it to rotate. A stationary magnet is mounted on the turbine shaft. As the turbine rotates, the magnet on the shaft passes the stationary sensing element. This results in the generation of an alternating magnetic field which creates a small electrical voltage.
Thus, a voltage is generated in the Hall sensor in the device and converted into a pulse. The electrical impulse is counted by the measuring system and, through the measuring algorithm, the user can then obtain information about the amount of liquid flowing through the sensor.
The methods of measuring liquids used in large hydroelectric power plants are very similar. When checking the operating conditions of water turbines, before their coupling with power generators and connection to the power grid. When you buy any of the above liquid flow sensors, you can be sure that you will get a professional device.
Flow sensors for liquids and gases – the most common use
Measuring flows is a very important field of metrology. Meters for measuring the flow of liquids and gases can be found in various types of water reservoirs, both smaller and larger (e.g. swimming pools). Products available in this category are very popular not only by retail customers, but also wholesalers - production companies, research laboratories, schools and universities. We make sure that the offered products are of the highest quality. When you buy liquid and gas flow sensors, you have to guarantee that they will be devices with a very long service life and their use will be completely effortless.
Liquid and has flow sensors – ideal for use with embedded systems
The offer of the Botland store includes a number of modules and attachments that can be easily connected to microcontrollers. By completing individual components, you can easily create an extensive measuring system. Of course, the most important element of such a system will always be the measuring device itself. Therefore, before choosing a product, it is worth paying attention to the most important parameters.
Sensors for the measurement of liquid and gas flow, such as the YF-G1 sensor, measure the quantity of liquids in the range from 2 to 100 l / min. The measurement method uses the Hall effect, which we wrote about above. In turn, the sensor connector has three wires - the red wire for connecting the auxiliary supply voltage in the range from 5V to 24V, the black wire to the power supply ground and the yellow wire which is used to transmit the measurement pulses.
The great advantage of the presented measuring devices such as the YF-G1 is that they can cooperate with programmable electronics. The sensor is compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi. Therefore, there is no problem to create a more advanced or just a different project from different components.
