PyCom company has been founded by Freda de Haro by support of the Kickstarter community. Today the brand offers a wide range of high-quality modules for embedded systems, mainly for designs of IoT (Internet of Things) devices. There are some product lines dedicated to different fileds of applications. Beside miniature, surface mount SoMs (System-on-Module), there are also easy to use modules equipped with pinheaders, antenna connectors and basic components such as switchtes and LEDs. In PyCom offer you can also find useful development boards and expansion modules that greatly reduce cost of development and the time to market. You can also benefit from compatbile enclosures and antennas with miniature, coaxial u.FL connector. Choice of module that fits your design needs should be based mainly on type of the wireless interface that you plan to use in your application. It is very important that using PyCom modules (such as FiPy or GPy) allows you to easily remove the PCB from the test socket of your evalboard and plug it to socket in your final device. This greatly reduces the design effort and simplifies the process of development.

PyCom IoT System-on-Module
There are three different SoMs dedicated to IoT in PyCom offer. The basic model – PyCom W01 – is based on ESP32 chipset with 4MB RAM and 8 MB Flash memory. It supports WiFi 802.11b/g/n with range of up to 1 km and Bluetooth 4.2 and 2.0. It also includes built-in real time clock (RTC), DMA controller IP v6 stack support. PyCom W01 can be used as main controller for less complex devices due to availability of GPIO, PWM outputs, 12-bit ADC and serial interfaces: 2x USART, 2x SPI, I2C and I2S. It also can handle microSD card and supports SSL/TLS and WPA security protocols. The PyCom W01 SoM requires single power supply 3,3 V and its mechanical dimensions are: 20 x 16 x 2,7 mm. The module can be mount directly to the target PCB using edge solder pads. The other interesting product is PyCom G01 advanced wireless module supporting WiFi 802.11b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and 2.0 as well as LTE CAT M1 / NB1. If you are working on smart sensor or smart home application, you will benefit from PyCom L01 module supporting LoRa, WiFi and Bluetooth BLE.
PyCom ready-to-use modules
Great choose for most of IoT applications is miniature and low-cost module WiPy 3.0. It’s based on ESP32 chipset, thus it offers the same technical parameters as PyCom W01 SoM described previously. The main difference is that WiPy 3.0 also includes pinheaders for connection with external hardware and the PCB is populated with all essential components: voltage regulator, reset switch, RGB LED, SMT chip antenna and u.FL connector for external antenna. More advanced SiPy module also supports Sigfox networking with up to 50 km rural range and four radio frequency ranges (RCZ1..RCZ4). Even more sophisticated module called PyCom LoPy4 supports both two most popular IoT protocols – LoRa (at 868 MHz and 915 MHz) and Sigfox. The most advanced of PyCom modules is the FiPy device. It supports all of the enumerated networking standards (WiFi, Bluetooth, Sigfox and LoRa) and also allows you to use LTE CAT M1 / NB1 (narrow band) interfaces. All of described modules can be programmed using Python programming language.
Evaluation boards and accessories for PyCom wireless modules
In our store you can find various evaluation boards and expansion modules made for WiPy, SiPy, and LoPy modules. For example, if you are working on a project with position and movement tracking capability, you should check our Pytrack Expansion board. This tiny module contains precision geolocalisation module supporting GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and QZSS services as well as includes 3-axis accelerometer, microSD card slot, 1-cell LiPo battery charger with 100 mA or 450 mA charging current. For multisensing projects you can use Pysense Expansion board containing light sensor, barometric pressure sensor, accelerometer and temperature sensor. It also contains SD card slot and LiPo charger. If you need some mechanical and environmental protection for your WiPy module, please chcek our offer of compatible enclosures in four different colors. You can also need external antennas for WiFy or LTE/GSM – you can also buy them in our store.
