Classic 12 V DC power supply with 5.5/2.1 mm DC plug
Standard socket outlet power supply with an output voltage of 12 V DC and a current capacity of 1.5 A. It is an impulse type power supply, hence the small size of the housing and weight. The product is adapted for use with mains sockets in the European (EU) standard, used, among others, in Poland.
The 12V / 1.5A power supply - a 5.5 / 2.1mm DC plug has been equipped with a 1.8 meter long cable with a factory-fitted ferrite filter - this is particularly important for devices where it is necessary to reduce high-frequency noise at the power input. The mains part is equipped with a passive PFC filter to minimize the impact of the power supply on other devices operating in the same 230 V circuit by reducing the reactive power introduced into the network.
How to choose a power supply for a given device?
Before choosing a PSU, it is worth remembering to check the parameters of the DC socket in the device to be powered with its help. Currently, the most popular are two standards of DC plugs, differing in size (diameter) of the middle pin. In this case, the 12 V plug has a size of 5.5 / 2.1mm (external / internal diameter of the plug). Some devices, on the other hand, require a visually similar plug with a size of 5.5 / 2.5mm respectively.
The second very important parameter is the polarity of the output plug. The vast majority of devices use standard connectors with a positive pole ("plus") on the middle pin and a ground ("minus") on the outer cover. Some devices found e.g. in audio systems require reverse polarization - it is worth to check it twice before purchase to avoid damaging the device and/or the power supply itself.
