Product description: Atnel Magic Hercules - addressable LED driver - SMD SO-8
SMD system in the SO-8 housing from the Atnel company that allows the user to program the addressed LEDs from the WS/SK series using the SPI bus. Works with any type of microcontroller from the AVR/Arduino, ESP, ARM/STM, PIC, Raspberry Pi series. The controller is recommended for microcontrollers powered by 3.3 V. Thanks to Magic Hercules, you do not need to use external integrated circuits to translate voltage levels from 3.3 V to TTL to LEDs. In addition, the system can be used as a WS/SK tape tester - it works for any tape with any color sequence: RGB / BGR / GRB / RGBW.
The manufacturer of the module has prepared a number of guides informing about what Magic Hercules is and how it works, which will greatly facilitate the work with the device:
Connecting the Magic Hercules chip
Connection diagram of the Magic Hercules module. For proper commissioning, an external quartz oscillator with a frequency of 20 MHz and two capacitors with a capacity of 15 pF to 22 pF are required. To this, it is absolutely necessary to add at least one filtering capacitor as close as possible to the GND and VCC power pins. To start the LED tester mode, it is enough to connect its WS_OUT input signal to the system , e.g. to a strip with addressable diodes or a graphic display based on these diodes.
The elements shown in the diagram - capacitors , quartz resonator , are not part of the set and must be purchased separately.
