Combination of SMD resistors with other electronic components
Surface mount resistors in 0805 housing are one of the most popular elements that are used in mass production of electronics. By combining SMD resistors with other general purpose components, such as capacitors and transistors, we can build functional electronic circuits with a variety of useful functions. Such applications include frequency filters, operational amplifiers, generators, and many others.
Preventing switching distortions with resistors
In addition to their typical use as add-on components for integrated circuits, resistors can also be used in other ways. Electro-acoustic devices equipped with a mechanical bypass switch in the audio path, e.g. guitar effects or synthesizer modules, may introduce short-lasting interference manifested by characteristic "shots" from the speakers at the moment of switching. To prevent this, a 1.5MΩ resistor should be connected between the input of the circuit and ground, which in most cases eliminates this problem.
