Product description: Micro Metal Motor Encoder - magnetic encoder for micro motors - straight - 2 pcs - Pimoroni PIM604
Set consisting of two magnetic quadrature encoders with straight connector for micro type motors . The encoder should be soldered to the motor connectors and the magnet should be mounted on its shaft. The sensor uses the Hall effect and magnetic disks so that the microcontroller can read feedback on how fast the motor is moving. The assembled motor with encoder can be connected to the controller, eg Motor 2040 by means of the JST 6-pin cable.
Leads and assembly of the MMME encoder
The encoder plates must be soldered to the motor contacts. Make sure the positive contact of the motor is connected to the positive contact of the encoder before soldering, otherwise the motor will rotate in the opposite direction.
Place the magnetic disk on the rear motor shaft, making sure to leave a small gap (less than 1 mm) between the magnetic disk and the sensors. The magnets only work one way - the side with the dots should be facing away from the motor.
Encoder outputs:
- M + - motor power supply, positive voltage
- M- - engine power, ground
- 3v3 - encoder power supply 3.3 V
- A - encoder output A
- B - encoder output B
- GND - encoder ground
