Soldering of THT resistors
If we have created a design for our electronic device, it is high time to test it on a contact board. If the test was successful, we can proceed to transfer all the components to the PCB. This time, proper operation will also depend on the correct and careful assembly of individual components.
This also applies to THT carbon resistors. Before soldering, clean the pads, and when soldering the components on the board, make sure the solders are shiny and smooth.
Simple current limitation to protect the LEDs
Directly connecting an LED with a voltage drop of 1.7 V between a 5 V source and ground can damage the LED and the source.
To prevent this, simply connect the LED in series with a 330Ω resistor in such a circuit. The LED will then draw a current of approximately 10mA, which is already a safe value for the LED during long-term operation.
