Product description: MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor - EMG muscle sensor - SparkFun DEV-21265
The MyoWare 2.0 EMG muscle sensor designed by Advancer Technologies , which allows you to implement control-based applications through muscle contraction and relaxation. The board is equipped with three snap-on connectors that can be used to connect other extensions of the MyoWare 2.0 series and create a complete measuring device. The pins on the top of the module connect to the power line and EMG envelope output of the sensor, while the bottom connectors are for connecting the input electrodes. There is a voltage signal at the output of the sensor - the stronger the muscle tension, the greater the voltage at the output.
Attention!
MyoWare 2.0 and Cable Shield are not intended to diagnose, treat, mitigate or prevent disease or other conditions in humans or other animals.
How does the MyoWare 2.0 EMG sensor work?
The MyoWare 2.0 muscle sensor measures the electrical potential of the muscle, commonly referred to as surface electromyography (EMG or sEMG). When the brain tells the muscles to tighten, it sends an electrical signal to them to start recruiting motor units (bundles of muscle fibers that generate force behind the muscles). The stronger the muscle tension, the more motor units are involved in generating greater muscle strength. The greater the number of motor units, the more the electrical activity of the muscles increases. The MyoWare 2.0 muscle sensor will analyze this activity and send a signal that represents the strength of the contraction of that muscle.
MyoWare 2.0 Ecosystem
MyoWare 2.0 is an ecosystem consisting of overlays that can be easily combined with muscle sensors, as well as with Arduino, thus creating a universal electromyography (EMG) sensor. An innovative snap-on connector system allows modules to be easily connected, and the 3.5 mm TRS Jack analog connector is used to connect to the microcontroller, by means of which the raw, filtered and rectified electrical activity of the target muscle is measured.
The manufacturer has prepared a detailed user guide for the MyoWare 2.0 ecosystem.
