The abbreviation SMD stands for the technology of their assembly. In a rectangular small plastic housing, diodes are placed and flooded with resin. The four-digit designation denotes the size of the diodes. The SMD 3528 designation is 3.5x2.8 millimeters, and the SMD 5050 designation is 5x5 millimeters.
