Electronic sensors for measuring liquid levels and soil moisture

Electronic measurement of water-related values always generates some risk - conductive liquids can cause short circuits in the device and corrode its metal elements. The situation is no different in the case of liquid level sensors - if they come into contact with e.g. water, they must be properly protected against its influence. Of course, remember to protect not only the level sensor itself, but also the Arduino module, if we place it, for example, in a tank with water.

Non-contact sensors for measuring liquid levels

Not all liquid level sensors are equally susceptible to damage caused by contact with, for example, water. Our store offers a wide range of non-contact liquid level indicators in the tank . These devices may use different mechanisms of operation. Some of them use photoelectric methods, others are based on capacitive measurements. Many of these types of sensors are compatible with e.g. Arduino modules and other development platforms, which facilitates their use in prototype devices. This type of sensors are ideal for measuring the level of aggressive liquids and for conducting measurements in high-pressure tanks .

Floats for threshold level measurement

Level sensors using floats - either mechanically integrated with the sensor or magnetic floats with a reed switch in the liquid level indicator in the tank are a perfect solution for systems where information about the exact level of liquid in the tank is not important and only information about reaching a certain predefined level is sufficient. . This type of level sensors will be useful, for example, in a system monitoring the level of rainwater in a garden tank - such a system can inform you that the tank is full. If we add, for example, an Arduino module and a solenoid valve, the tank can empty automatically so that it never overflows.

Dedicated sensors for testing soil moisture

Sensors dedicated to testing soil moisture allow for electronic measurement of this parameter, e.g. in a lawn. This type of level sensors will work well in the garden or on the balcony. If you have an irrigation system in your garden, you can fully automate watering with the help of this type of liquid sensors and a module such as Arduino. When Arduino detects lower soil moisture than set, it will send information to the pumps in the irrigation system, which will ensure that water reaches the plants.
