From a student lab into the world
The story of the creation of a friendly, intelligent friend for children dates back to 2014. Photon was the work of a group of students from Bialystok University of Technology, who initially developed it as a scientific project. Before full commercialization of the device, more than 20 prototypes were created, and the creators themselves tried to raise funds for its completion through various methods - including funding from the National Center for Research and Development, funds from investors, or... from potential users themselves. The collection conducted by the popular crowfunding platform Kickstarter brought more than 52 thousand dollars. After many tests of the device - conducted, among others, in schools - the first commercial version of the Photon robot was launched in 2017. And in 2019, the creators of the device announced expansion into China and Japan, Canada and the US.
Innovative device for learning
The most important distinguishing feature of the Photon educational robot is its completely innovative concept. Users do not get a ready-made set of functions that they have yet to learn - this time they act as teachers. The little electronic "alien" they take out of the box needs to be programmed completely from scratch. Thanks to this, Photon is perfect both for playing at home and during school programming lessons. In the latter case, it has the additional benefit of encouraging young computer science students to work in teams.
Photon in Boland store
In our store you will find two variants of the Photon educational robot. It is designed for children aged 7 to 12 years. Together with the robot the user gets access to a friendly, intuitive programming environment. The device is controlled via a mobile device, and you can choose from three applications (including one designed for teachers) and 4 graphical programming languages. The conclusions from tests conducted in schools turned out to be the most valuable in their creation. The second, extended set (EDU) includes the Photon robot, a colourful mat and orientation cards - they will be particularly useful during pre-school and school programming classes. The extended set also includes ready-to-use lesson scenarios adjusted to the age of children.
