Product description: SmartLED Shield - driver for LED matrices compatible with Teensy 4 - SparkFun DEV-17521
Extension, enabling the use of Teensy 4 module to control the display of graphics on HUB75 RGB LED panels in 36 bit color depth and refresh rate of 240 Hz. It is compatible with large panels with resolution up to 128 x 64 px. Teensy version 4.0 or 4.1 should be plugged into SmartLED Shield socket. The extension itself can be connected to the LED matrix with a cable or placed directly in the panel. Driver has built-in IDC connector and four-pin JST cable for connecting APA102 LED matrix.
Manufacturer provides SmartMatrix library for Arduino and example code.

SmartLED Shield advantages
- Great ease of use. SmartLED Shield is fully assembled. If the Teensy is equipped with pins, no soldering is required. It is easy to install and remove later.
- It is compatible with matrices up to 9K pixels (e.g. 96 x 96 px). At the same time, it maintains high display quality. In case of its reduction it allows to work with larger panels.
- Optionally it is possible to control DotStar / APA102 compatible LEDs using the built-in 5V buffers and the 4-pin JST-SM connector, the matching JST-SM cable is included.

- Supports all 14 signals on HUB75 panels with 5V buffered outputs, using only 9 GPIO pins on Teensy 4.0 or 4.1.

SmartLED communication
The product has a four-wire JST cable coming out of the controller and terminated with a plug to connect the APA102 LED array . It has the following leads:
- 5 V - power supply
- DAT - data line
- CLK - clock line
- GND - ground
LED matrix driver has also built-in IDC connector marked on the picture beside.
