Main features of the sensor

  • It allows precise measurement of unidirectional currents in the range from 0 A to 5 A
  • It offers a low current path resistance of approximately 1.2 mΩ, which results in low power losses
  • Provides electrical insulation up to 2.4 kV RMS
  • Generates an output voltage proportional to the input current - 800 mV / A for a supply voltage of 5 V
  • It operates on a passband of 120 kHz
  • It operates in a voltage range of 4.5V to 5.5V, with 5V being the preferred voltage
  • Enables direct soldering of wires to the sensor or use of solderless connectors

Current sensor applications

The current sensor is extremely useful in monitoring and controlling current to ensure the safety, efficiency and performance of electrical systems. This enables users to track energy consumption, diagnose load issues, optimize system performance, and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

The green Pololu current sensor module lies upside down on a white background. The current sensor is suitable for monitoring the current in various electrical systems.

Current sensor pins

  • IP+ (current input positive) : a pin intended to be connected to the positive side of a circuit through which current flows in order to monitor it.
  • IP- (negative current input) : a pin intended to be connected to the negative side of a circuit through which current flows for the purpose of monitoring it.
  • VCC (logic power supply) : used to connect the supply voltage for the current sensor measurement system. The supply voltage should be between 4.5 V and 5.5 V.
  • OUT : output of the system from which an analog voltage proportional to the measured current is read. This signal can be further processed or used for direct current monitoring.
  • GND : system ground.
