Product description: PL2303 USB-UART converter - USB plug
The converter allows communication
between two popular serial interfaces USB and UART. The module is based on the PL2303 chip. The chip works with Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 without the need to install drivers. The module can be used to exchange data between a computer and a microcontroller system or to program boards with a serial interface, e.g. Arduino or STM32Discovery
. In the operating system it is visible as a virtual COM port. It has 3 LEDs indicating power supply, sending and receiving data. The device works with voltages of 3,3 V and 5 V. Voltage selection is done by jumper. The board has connectors with a 2.54 mm pitch to fit the contact plate
or allow connection by wires.Connecting the converter
Pinout description is in the table.
Pin | Description |
---|---|
VCCIO | Power supply 3.3 V or 5 V selectable by jumper. |
GND | System ground. |
TXD | UART transmitter pin (voltage selected by jumper). |
RXD | UART receiver pin (voltage set by jumper). |
USB-UART converter PL2303 - USB connector - Waveshare 4037
We offer a device that is practically indispensable for an electronics, automation or robotics engineer. It is a piece of hardware that allows you to quickly connect between popular USB and UART serial interfaces.
The USB-UART connection is used, for example, when communicating with Arduino (a popular minicomputer). You can exchange data between your microcontroller and your computer efficiently this way.
A USB-UART converter for you
The offered converter is based on the popular pl2303 chip (driver is generally available), when connected to a Windows computer it will be visible as a virtual COM port.
Depending on the device you intend to communicate with, you can set a proper input voltage (5V or 3.3V), simply by putting a jumper between three goldpins.
