Product description: UGV01 - crawler robot chassis with drive and ESP32 controller - Waveshare 24019
The UGV01 is an advanced crawler-type mobile robot equipped with independent suspension systems that allow for excellent movement over difficult terrain . The built-in chassis controller is based on ESP32 , which makes it possible to control the robot completely remotely . It is controlled using a web browser without the need to install additional applications. It is also compatible with various minicomputers , including Raspberry Pi and Jetson Nano , and has open -source software , ensuring easy personalization and development of projects. The chassis is powered by three 18650 cells and also includes protection against overcharging, over-discharging and short circuit.
The manufacturer has prepared a user guide that makes it easier to get started with the product.
Main features of the robot chassis
- Enables remote control and communication with the chassis thanks to the built-in ESP32-based WiFi and Bluetooth module
- It has built-in motors with encoders that allow for free speed control
- Can climb obstacles up to 40 mm high
- It is equipped with a 0.96'' OLED display
- Allows sending JSON commands
- Contains open-source code with extensive documentation and online tutorials
- It is powered by three 18650 lithium cells
- It has built-in protection against overcharging, over-discharging and short circuiting.
Support for JSON data exchange format
The UGV01 robot chassis provides interaction with the device using commands of the popular JSON data exchange format, which allows you to control the robot's movement, speed, direction and automates the order of its tasks. The robot can receive commands both remotely via a web application and via direct UART communication.
Controlling servos using PWM
The robot controller with the built-in ESP32 chip supports servo control via PWM signals, which allows you to freely adjust parameters such as rotation angle or speed. This provides the ability to construct complex robot movements and manipulations.
Remote access to the web application
The built-in ESP32 controller allows you to remotely control the robot by creating your own WiFi hotspot. The web interface is available in a web browser at 192.168.4.1. Users can control the robot using the directional buttons and adjust the speed, as well as send JSON commands to manage various functions.
The process of setting up and joining a WiFi hotspot is described in detail in the guide in the UGV01 Basic Use section.

Note! Before using the product for the first time, you must purchase and install three 18650 batteries yourself. When you connect them for the first time, check if the LED is lit. If so, it means that the batteries are connected incorrectly (plus to minus and minus to plus) and must be placed the other way around, because charging them in the wrong configuration is dangerous and may cause an explosion.
