What is the difference between SMD and THT resistors?
Progress in electronics is inextricably linked with the miniaturisation of components used in the production process. This is evidenced by the use of SMD components, including resistors, in the production of electronics. SMD resistors in 0805 housing have up to four times smaller dimensions than conventional THT resistors. What's more, PCBs intended for their assembly do not require drilling mounting holes, as is the case with components intended for through-hole assembly.
SMD resistors in operational amplifier circuits
Although electronics is one of the most developing areas of modern industry, old and proven design solutions are still used. SMD resistors are still used today as auxiliary components for operational amplifiers. If, in our design, one of the circuit blocks requires phase inversion of an analog signal while maintaining its peak-to-peak value, then it is enough to connect the non-inverting input of the amplifier to ground and to connect two 5.6kΩ resistors to the inverting input that connect to the source of the input signal and to the output of the amplifier (feedback). To avoid clipping of the input and output signals, the amplifier should be powered symmetrically with voltages greater than the amplitudes of the input and output voltages.
