Ferrite magnet – what is worth knowing about it?

The described magnets are made of ceramic sinters and iron oxides. Strontium ferrite (SrFe12O19) and barium ferrite (BaFe12O19) are used for their production. Ferrite magnets are obtained by two methods, the so-called dry and wet. The ferrite magnet is characterized by high corrosion resistance, so it can be successfully used outdoors. In addition, it can be safely exposed to salt, various gases, grease and even acids. The ferrite type of magnets is characterized by high resistance to demagnetization. In practice, this means a long service life, even in the case of intensive use in various conditions.

Our store's assortment includes magnets of various shapes, sizes and weights. We offer cylindrical, plate-shaped and horseshoe-shaped models. Both sets containing e.g. 5 pieces of magnets and individual pieces are available.

The use of ferrite magnets

Due to their properties and affordable price, the described magnets are distinguished by their universal and versatile use. Where can you find a ferrite magnet?

  • Magnets of this type are used on a large scale in the furniture industry, and more specifically in magnetic locks.
  • Another application is various types of measuring instruments, e.g. water meters. The ferrite magnet is also part of the speakers.
  • Additionally, it is used in magnetic lifters. separators. They are an important element of magnetic clutches and electric motors. They are also found in generators.
  • It is worth adding that magnets of this type are used in lifts and magnetic holders, and even compasses. Magnetic locks are also very popular.

Depending on the specific model and manufacturing technique, the ferrite magnet can operate in a wide range of operating temperatures. In this category you will find items that retain their properties and allow safe use even at temperatures of 300°C.

What else makes a ferrite magnet stand out?

The magnets available in our assortment are characterized by high resistivity, which means they can be used in variable magnetic fields. In most cases, the magnets are dark gray in color. The exception are models painted blue and red to quickly distinguish the poles. Due to the way magnets are produced, they are susceptible to mechanical damage, especially falls from heights, which may result in splitting.

A special type are anisotropic magnets, which are characterized by a higher external magnetic field than standard isotropic magnets. Their properties result from, among others: from a special production process (pressing in a magnetic field). We encourage you to check out the entire passive components section, where you can find not only magnets, but also resonators , electronic assembly kits , chokes and many others.

Ferrite and neodymium magnet – the most important differences

Neodymium magnets, unlike ferrite ones, must be protected with an additional coating. In practice, this means a more aesthetic appearance. However, neodymium is more susceptible to high temperatures. In turn, ferrite magnets are more resistant to corrosion. Moreover, they cause much less disruption to the operation of devices located nearby. This is especially important in the case of hearing aids, pacemakers and other similar devices. A neodymium magnet is characterized by a higher energy density and, therefore, a very strong attraction.

In everyday use, this allows for much wider use. The higher the energy density, the smaller the magnet and, consequently, the lower the weight. We offer magnets in a wide range of sizes, so everyone will certainly find a model suited to a specific application. Are you interested in ceramic ferrite magnets? Ferrite magnets - FAQ

Ferrite (ceramic) magnets are a popular type of magnets that can be recognized by their black color. They are used, for example, in engines , magnetic boards, toys and many other applications.

Neodymium magnets are made of different materials than ferrite and have different properties - among others, they produce a stronger magnetic field and are more sensitive to corrosion and high temperatures.

A neodymium magnet can be used, for example, to build a magnetic holder that can withstand heavy loads, as well as in many other applications.

Neodymium magnets are the term for magnets made from a combination of neodymium, iron and boron powders sintered in a strong magnetic field and at high temperature.
