Magnets and devices using them can be used in many electronic projects , DIY projects , and in other situations - for example, for wall mounting , gripping metal elements , creating decorations or building more complex solutions such as electric motors, magnetic separators or loudspeakers. . When choosing magnets and devices based on their use, attention should be paid not only to technical parameters (durability, required power supply, etc.), but also to adaptation to the conditions in the place where the magnet will be used. What are the advantages of using magnets?

The use of magnetic elements allows, above all, to reduce the wear of mechanical parts. Thanks to this, locks, lifts and other devices operating with magnets are much more durable than their completely mechanical counterparts. For example, neodymium magnets do not lose their properties for hundreds of years. However, direct-acting electromagnetic locks and valves have shorter opening and closing times than any mechanical locks and valves. Neodymium magnets and ferrite magnets - additional information

Magnets come in various shapes (e.g. magnetic rollers) and sizes. They are used, among others: in industry. The combination of compact size and the generation of a strong magnetic field makes them widely used not only in the automotive industry, but also in shipbuilding, aviation and many others.

Electromagnets and traditional magnets

Permanent magnets (generating a constant magnetic field) are perfect for assembly, for attaching objects and in devices where uninterrupted operation of the magnet is needed (magnetoelectric speakers, magnetic filters). Permanent magnets, and more precisely, their parameters include, above all, maximum load capacity, internal diameter and own weight. However, electromagnets, which exhibit magnetic activity only when the appropriate voltage is applied, work well with systems where the magnet is supposed to operate only at specific moments. Examples of such installations include lifts, cranes, electric locks, solenoid valves or a generator (a device that generates electricity from the conversion of mechanical energy). Neodymium magnets belong to the strongest group of magnets currently available on the market. The production process of this type of magnets includes the use of neodymium, the element that gives the magnets their name, as well as iron and boron. The effect of neodymium magnets is so strong that bringing them close to delicate electronic devices, especially measuring instruments, may damage them. Additionally, neodymium magnets are characterized by very high resistance to high temperatures, which is up to +310℃. In practice, this means universal use.

The process of demagnetization, i.e. loss of magnetic properties, is strictly dependent on the specific magnet. It should be noted that this process occurs very slowly and is therefore difficult to observe. Neodymium magnets become demagnetized after several dozen or even 100 years from the date of their production. In turn, ferrite magnets lose their properties (demagnetize) when exposed to too low or too high a temperature. The optimal operating temperature of ferrite magnets ranges from approximately -40℃ to approximately +250℃ (the specific temperature range may vary slightly for different magnet models).
