Product description: DFRobot Shield NB-IoT / LTE / GNSS / GPRS / GPS SIM7070G - shield for Arduino - DFRobot DFR0572

Module cooperating with Arduino , which enables communication in the GSM and GPRS standards. It allows you to conduct voice calls, send SMS messages. It also has a built-in GPS and LTE module. The board has: a SIM card connector, a u.FL socket for mounting an external antenna . NB-IoT is a new field of the Internet of Things, which supports connection to a cellular network in the WAN network. The SIM7070G module used enables communication via the GPRS / LTE network, it also has a GPS module. There is a SIM card slot on the board, and the connection of subsequent Arduino Shields is possible thanks to the led-out connectors.

Arduino compatible product

Sample code and detailed information can be found in the user guide .

DFRobot Shield NB-IoT / LTE / GNSS / GPRS / GPS SIM7070G - shield for Arduino - DFRobot DFR0572.

The previous version of the board with the SIM7000E chip has been updated by the manufacturer and equipped with the SIM7070G chip, which retains the original functionalities of the module.

Supports GNSS satellite positioning.

Special features of the overlay

  • Supports global frequency bands for NB-IoT
  • Supports CAT-M communication
  • Supports GNSS satellite positioning (GPS, CLONASS, Galileo, BD)
  • Supports multiple frequency bands including CAT-NB/CAT-M/GSM/GPRS/EDGE
  • It contains built-in AT commands and the software library is encapsulated, eliminating the need for lower-level software development

Connecting the DFRobot overlay

The board has connectors compatible with Arduino Uno, Leonardo and derivatives. To start working with the device, simply connect the module and upload the sample code provided by the manufacturer to Arduino.

Technical specification of the overlay

The product is not as described. It's no longer sim7000E, but it's sim7070G. These are two different modems. And AT commandos also differ. Just TCP/IP commandos sim7000E will not work on sim7070G. But for something new, the sim7070G is not bad at all. I think it's HTTPS, which wasn't in sim7000E at all
