Product description: RTC real time clock module PCF8523 - STEMMA QT / Qwiic - Adafruit 5189
A real time clock (RTC) module manufactured by Adafruit and featuring the PCF8523 chip. It is also a calendar optimized for low power consumption. Data is transmitted serially over the I2C bus with a maximum baud rate of up to 1000 kbit/s. The RTC PCF8523 real time clock module is also equipped with a battery socket. Thanks to the battery the power supply is maintained even if the main power supply to the device is interrupted.
The kit does not include CR1220 battery. It should be purchased separately.
Features of Adafruit module
The PCF8523 Real-Time Clock RTC module features a battery connector, allowing the RTC to maintain timing accuracy even when the main power to the device is interrupted. The module provides information such as seconds, minutes, hours, day, week, month and year. The clock operates in 24-hour or 12-hour format with AM / PM indicator. However, it is not a highly accurate module - it can achieve a delay of up to 2 seconds in a single day of operation.
