Product description: Qwiic - 1.8 V voltage adapter - SparkFun SPX-19017
A voltage adapter that allows you to adjust the voltage of 1.8 V to the 3.3 V level used in the Qwiic system. The module is used when the user has to connect an element with 1.8 V logic without a logic level regulator to a project implemented in the Qwiic standard. The presented converter provides a voltage of 1.8 V at a current of up to 300 mA , as well as a bidirectional translation of logical levels. It allows you to connect elements using the I2C bus with a voltage of 1.8 V.
SPX-19017 is part of SparkX's prototype product line from SparkFun .
What is Qwiic?
Qwiic SparkFun is an ecosystem that includes numerous sensors based on the I2C bus , executive modules and dedicated cables. The main assumption of this solution is to improve the prototyping process. All elements supporting the Qwiic standard use a common, 4-pin JST connector with a spacing of 1 mm . This reduces the amount of space required on the PCB. It also protects against connection inconsistent with the polarity.
Pinout description
The module has outputs in the form of solder fields , located on both sides of the printed circuit board. On one there are terminals for 3.3 V logic, on the other 1.8 V (marked in the picture on the right):
- GND - ground
- 3v3 - 3.3V logic
- SDA - Data line of the I2C bus
- SCL - The clock line of the I2C bus
- EN - Enable derivation
- 1v8 - 1.8V logic
The adapter also has two Qwiic connectors .
Module specification
- The AP2127 LDO regulator provides a voltage of 1.8 V at 300 mA from the Qwiic bus
- The bi-directional PCA9306 chip handles I2C logic translation
- The LED indicates that the board is connected to the Qwiic bus (the diode can be turned off by using a soldering valve, which is useful when used in systems with low power consumption)
- Supported Connector Type: Qwiic
- Supported logical voltages: 1.8 V and 3.3 V
- Tile sizes: 26 x 26 x 4 mm
