Product description: Digital Ambient Light Sensor - VEML7700 - I2C Qwiic - SparkFun SPX-18981
The SparkFun module is equipped with the VEML7700 ambient light sensor from the SparkX series. The sensor has a 16-bit resolution, the measuring range is from 0 lx to approx. 167 klx with a resolution of 0.005 lx / count, it uses the I2C digital interface for communication. The sensor adopts the Filtron technology, the response time of which is close to that of the human eye. Thanks to O-Trim technology, ALS output tolerance below 10%. The board is equipped with two Qwiic connectors for simple connection via the I2C interface, additionally 4-pins for soldering the goldpin strip were provided.
SPX-18981 is an experimental product and is part of SparkX's prototype product line from SparkFun . Modules in this series are advanced solutions that are not used in regular production. They are produced in very small amounts. They are tested by SparkFun, but have no technical support and are not covered by the warranty.

The module with the VEML7700 sensor for communication uses the I2C interface, it is equipped with two Qwiic connectors and holes for soldering the Goldpin connector.
- GND - the ground of the system
- 3V3 - supply voltage 3.3 V
- SDA - data line of the I2C interface
- SCL - clock line of the I2C interface
What is Qwiic?
Qwiic SparkFun is an ecosystem of modules with dedicated connectors based on the I2C bus . The main assumption of this solution is to improve the prototyping process. All elements of this ecosystem use a common 4-pin JST connector with a spacing of 1 mm . This reduces the amount of space required on the PCB. It also protects against connection inconsistent with the polarity.
