Modern storage for versatile applications
Sandisk was one of the three companies responsible for establishing the SD card-storage standard. These modern storage devices were intended to displace older, less advanced standards from the market. That SD cards have succeeded in this is evidenced by their versatile appeal and the number of devices using them. However, the construction of such cards, nor portable USB flash drives, would not have been possible without the emergence of Flash memory. Sandisk has been producing memory using this technology since the early 1990s. Back in 1991 Sandisk launched the first SSD using Flash memory, and since 2000 Sandisk has been working closely with Toshiba, who developed the technology.
Portable storage devices with USB interface
The popular flash drives with an integrated USB interface - known as USB flash drives - became popular as data storage devices many years ago. Sandisk has been a manufacturer of such devices almost since the beginning of their presence on the market. Flash drives replaced floppy disks and later CDs and DVDs. Thanks to the fact that data can be repeatedly transferred to such a memory and then deleted from it, they are very convenient in use. Equipped with universal USB interface they can be connected to computers and many other devices such as printers, TV sets or multimedia systems. In our catalog there are many of these types of memory, produced by Sandisk. They have a storage capacity from 16 GB up to 128 GB and are equipped with a fast USB 3.1 interface, allowing for efficient data transfer to and from the memory device.
SD memory cards
The SD card is currently one of the most widely used memory card formats available on the market. It is used in wearable electronics devices such as smartphones, tablets, portable audio and video players, digital cameras, single board computers, and various industrial applications such as data collection systems, control devices, etc. Sandisk manufactures a wide range of memory cards in SD and microSD format. These types of cards do not differ in anything electrical, they are only mechanical formats, differing in the physical size of the card.
What are the differences in classes and interfaces of modern SD cards?
In the offer of our store there are many SD and microSD cards from Sandisk. They differ not only in capacity, but also a number of other important parameters. The most important, from the user's point of view, the secondary parameter of SD cards is the interface with which the card is equipped and the speed class of the device. All SD cards are equipped with a modern, ultra-fast UHS-I interface, which allows for fast data transfer to and from the device. How fast? Depending on the speed class - the two most common in Sandisk's range are class U3 and class 10. The former allows data transfer speeds of up to 30MB/s and the latter up to 10MB/s. An additional parameter is the durability class. Sandisk manufactures cards in both available classes - A1 and A2. These are the application performance classes. This new parameter not only defines sequential read speeds, but also indicates the minimum number of operations per second. Class A1 requires at least 1,500 reads and 500 write operations per second, while class A2 requires 4,000 and 2,000, respectively. Keep in mind, however, that class A2 cards require additional drivers because they use command queuing and use a cache.
