Product description: SCMD - 11V/1,5A dual channel motor driver - UART/I2C/SPI - SparkFun ROB-13911
SparkFun module with two channel DC motor driver. Emulates a register based device. It can be controlled via UART, I2C or SPI. It is powered from 3 V to 11 V. The continuous current per channel is 1.2 A.
Its main advantage is the variety of control levels and the possibility of precise control. The logic works with 3.3 V, so a voltage converter is required to work with Arduino. Exceptions are modules working with 3.3V voltage, like Arduino Pro Mini 328 - 3.3V/8MHz.
Motor driver specification
- Power supply for motors (VMOT): from 3V to 11V
- Power supply for logic (VCC): from 3.3V
- Maximum output current: 1.5A per channel
- Continuous output current: 1.2 A per channel
- 127 control levels
- Controlled via UAR, I2C, or SPI signals
- Motor rotation direction can be changed
- Possibility to connect up to 16 controllers via I2C
- Several possible I2C addresses
- Default UART baud: 9600 b/s
- Optional diagnostics
- Configurable expansion bus frequency: 50 / 100 / 400 kHz
- Configurable update frequency of the extension bus: from 1 ms to 255 ms or by command
