The name filament comes from the Latin word " filum ", meaning " thread ". This is a very accurate term, because the 3D printing filament looks like a thread - it is round in cross-section and wound on a spool . Basic parameters - Filaments for 3D printers
The plastics mentioned above differ in chemical and physical parameters , which translates into their different operational parameters - both in the finished product and in the 3D printer itself. From the point of view of a 3D printer, the most important parameter to know is the glass transition temperature, above which the temperature of the hot extruder nozzle in the printer head should be set. Recommendations regarding the presence and temperature of a heated print bed are also important. From a mechanical point of view, parameters regarding the strength of the material and its density are important.
