Despite the huge popularity of all kinds of batteries, including, of course, are most often used at present, lithium-ion and lithium-polymer, classic, battery remain efficient and easy to use power source for mobile devices. The dimensions of most of these one-time sources of electricity remain unchanged for several decades. In addition to the most common batteries such as "Tom thumb" (denoted (L)R6 or AA) and the "little sticks", i.e., (L)R03 or AAA, still willing to use larger elements R14, R20 and even. If the battery is clearly seen as inexorable are the laws of physics – the smaller the volume of the chain, the less energy can accumulate. The choice of the number and size of the battery for the newly designed device is always associated with the need to reach a compromise between size and weight of the device, and the energy consumption and the expected operating time. If the amount of space in the case allows, is to take the battery R14 to form a robust source of energy for devices with high current consumption.

In the case of batteries, we can clearly see how inexorable the laws of physics are - the smaller the volume of a given cell, the less energy it can store. Choosing the number and size of batteries for a newly designed device always involves finding a compromise between the size and weight of the device, energy consumption and expected operating time. If the amount of space in the housing allows it, it is worth using R14 batteries, which are a solid source of energy for devices with increased power consumption.
Types of R14 batteries (and more)
Commonly used general-purpose batteries come in basically two varieties. Classic, inexpensive zinc-carbon cells (e.g. R14 batteries) contain a graphite core, covered with manganese oxide, placed in an electrolytic paste containing ammonium chloride and filling the inside of a zinc can.
The latter is the battery housing; at the same time, it also serves as the negative electrode of the cell. The core is connected to the housing cover and forms the positive electrode of the battery. Batteries of this type are characterized by a relatively low self-discharge effect, but offer relatively small capacity and high internal resistance.
For this reason, they are not suitable for powering devices with high power consumption, but they work great in low-power devices (e.g. watches with LCD displays or calculators). In turn, alkaline batteries, e.g. LR14, contain an alkaline electrolyte in the form of potassium hydroxide (KOH), which allows these cells to achieve much higher capacity and lower internal resistance than their classic counterparts.
Battery parameters (alkaline battery voltage and additional information)
By far the best-known battery parameters are: its type (determining its physical size) and voltage. In the case of the (L)R14 class batteries discussed, the exact dimensions (diameter and length) are approximately the same, regardless of the manufacturer and chemical composition (zinc-carbon, alkaline). The diameter is from 24.9 mm to 26.2 mm and the length is 50 mm. The weight usually does not exceed 70 grams.
The rated voltage - for both zinc-carbon and alkaline cells - is 1.5 V (although, of course, new cells, measured without load, show slightly higher voltage values). Other important parameters, which most often will not be found on the packaging, are: actual capacity, internal resistance and discharge characteristics.
In the case of LR14 alkaline batteries, the nominal capacities achieved are approximately 8000 mAh (for comparison, the best R6 size batteries offer approximately 2500 mAh). The best LR14 batteries (e.g. Varta Industrial) also have precisely measured and described discharge characteristics, determined for several example load resistances (or currents).
R14 batteries in the Botland offer (batteries for industrial use and more)
Our assortment includes high-quality R14 and LR14 batteries from leading manufacturers such as Panasonic, Varta and Energizer. Varta Industrial LR14 batteries are designed to operate in difficult environmental conditions - they can be safely used at temperatures ranging from -10 oC to +50 oC.
Excellent LR14 Duracell cells offer a long operating time (up to 10 years) thanks to the patented Duralock technology and are available in sets of 2. For less demanding devices with lower power consumption (e.g. for lower power flashlights), we recommend a product such as the R14 Red battery Panasonic bat, also available in sets of two.
Why choose the Botland store?
Are you looking for proven batteries with high capacity, increased resistance to external conditions and clear markings? The assortment of this category contains only carefully selected products. We guarantee professional advice and fast shipping of every product in our store. All contact details are available in the contact tab. If they are looking for a specific product, e.g. clock batteries, it is worth using the filter option. By entering the appropriate phrase, e.g. C or C R14 batteries, products that meet specific criteria will be displayed.
Due to their parameters, R14 batteries are perfect for stable and effective power supply of low-impedance devices (requiring relatively little power to operate). The R14 battery can be successfully used to power calculators and watches equipped with an LCD display . Additionally, this type of battery is used to power various types of toys and flashlights.
The best choice is R14 batteries from renowned manufacturers with many years of experience in the battery market. Certainly a good choice will be models from Duracell, Panasonic and Varta, which retain their original electrical parameters for a long time. This means that they have a very low self-discharge. Another advantage of the batteries of the mentioned brands is a wide operating temperature range ensuring universal use. In addition, selected Varta R14 batteries are designed for safe and stable operation in difficult conditions.
