How does a smart NiMH charger work?
Contrary to appearances, charging the battery is a very complex, multi-stage process that requires the use of appropriate equipment. When using a conventional charger without a charging management system, it is necessary to manually supervise the charging process because there is a risk of damaging the charged batteries. For this purpose, charger manufacturers have developed a number of necessary technical solutions that enable safe charging of NiMH batteries and accumulators. In smart chargers, the control system includes a microprocessor that supervises the battery charging procedure in real time. When the batteries are fully charged, this information is indicated by a message on the LCD display. Then the charger goes into the state of maintaining the target voltage on the batteries.
