Description: Adafruit NeoPixel - RGB LED chain - 4 m.
Individually addressable RGB LEDs placed in a 4 meter flexible black tape chain with a density of 60 diodes per meter. Each pixel can emit a colour from a 24-bit pallet. One microcontroller pin is sufficient to operate the module (e.g. Arduino).
The diodes are arranged densely at a distance of approx. 17 mm, so the brightness is very high. However, high power requires an efficient power supply. The system is powered by 5 V, consumes about 3.5 A per meter (18 W). The chain can be cut after each lead.
The applied communication protocol enables serial connection of the diodes. Another chain should be connected to the output connector, connecting 5V, GND and DOUT with DIN respectively. The manufacturer notes that when using more than 500 diodes, the Arduino Uno RAM memory may not be sufficient. It should also be noted that each subsequent matrix will need to increase the efficiency of the power supply.
Connection
The device has a 3-pin connector consisting of the following leads:- GND- module weight
- 5 V- supply voltage, for one matrix a source with a current capacity of at least 3.5 A per meter of chain should be connected
- DIN(white cable) - digital control signal from the microcontroller
Product compatible with Arduino and Raspberry Pi The manufacturer makes it available:
