The socket enables very easy and safe (for both the circuit itself and the printed circuit board) assembly and disassembly of THT integrated circuits. The operation can be repeated many times without the risk of damaging any of the components – which is why sockets are so widely used in evaluation kits, for example, where it is often necessary to swap the tested circuit with a different one or model. The component's pinout is identical to the original DIP40 package, allowing the socket to be soldered directly into the designated slot for the integrated circuit.
