Description
Shield for Raspberry Pi, version A+ B+ / 2 / 3 / 3+ / Zero / Zero W with system SN65HVD72 allowing communication between the 3.3 V UART and RS-485. It is powered with connectors of the Raspberry Pi. On the board is also DB9 connector.
The shield has connectors suitable for Raspberry Pi, DB9 connector, connector goldpin, the possibility to connect another shields.
The module has surge protection in the form of TVS diode and two resistors of 10Ω. You can use only one board RS485 on the Raspberry. Because of the size of the connector, it is recommended to use it on the end. The board is working with Rspbian Jesse after turning off the Bluetooth. Please see the instruction.
RS-485is a standard used in serial communication systems. Equipment for it, can act at large distances, even in noisy environment. Interface Rs-485, unlike RS-232, allows you to connect multiple devices to the network. When connecting it, it is recommended to use a resistor at the end of each line in order to reduce the bounces.
Board RS485 has a resistor of 120Ω to connect it when the module is connected to the RS-485 bus. The following diagram represents a typical network.
