Spacer sleeves are used in various industries to maintain a constant distance between assembled components. They are an important element in electronic designs where insufficient distance between system parts may adversely affect the operation of the whole (for example by creating unwanted electrical connections). Spacer sleeves can be made of metal or plastic, and can be equipped (on one or both sides) with different types of threads for easier assembly. In addition to cylindrical bushings, hexagonal bushings (hexagonal in cross-section) are also popular. A well-chosen spacer can determine the quality of a project and its durability.

Spacer sleeve - what else is worth knowing about it?
Spacer sleeves can be made of metal or plastic , and be equipped (on one or both sides) with various types of threads (models with internal thread are available) to facilitate installation. In addition to cylindrical sleeves, hexagonal sleeves (with a regular hexagonal cross-section) are also popular. A well-selected spacer sleeve can determine the quality of the project and its durability. They are used, among others, as mounting of printed circuit boards.
Spacer sleeves - structure and material
The suitability of a sleeve for a given application is determined primarily by its structure ( length, internal and external diameter, shape, possible presence and type of thread ) and material ( metal or plastic sleeves ). When using sleeves in electronics, it is worth paying attention to the value of current and heat conduction and heat resistance (some plastic sleeves may melt at very high temperatures).
Nylon and brass bushings are available. The presence of a thread is also important (threading is more common in metal sleeves than in plastic ones) and its type - the most popular threads in sleeves for electronic projects are M2 and M3. The spacer sleeve must be well matched to your project.
Spacer sleeves - application
In electronic projects, spacer sleeves are used to attach printed circuit boards, modules or brackets . They are used, among others, to mount expansion boards in popular microcontrollers such as Arduino or Raspberry Pi. They can be used to separate electronic parts or constitute an auxiliary element when assembling the electronic system in its final location (e.g. inside the housing).
Products such as spacer sleeves are often sold in larger sets, additionally containing mounting screws and other useful elements - this solution allows you to save money and avoid a situation in which an important part is suddenly missing when assembling the project.
It is also worth equipping yourself with a set of sleeves of different sizes and threads, so you do not have to make separate purchases before creating the next project. Spacer sleeves (metal and plastic) - FAQ
Spacer sleeves are universal mounting elements designed to maintain a constant distance between individual elements. These are extremely important parts of many electronic projects, in which a precisely defined distance between parts is particularly important. When selected electronic parts are too close together, an unwanted electrical connection may form between them. This situation often leads to partial or complete damage to the system. Spacer sleeves are made of metal or plastic.
When choosing a spacer sleeve, first of all, check its dimensions. The most important of them are length and internal diameter. Another issue is the shape of the sleeve. Although the most popular of them are cylindrical, it is worth knowing that they are also available in a hexagonal version. You should also pay attention to the presence (or lack thereof) and type of thread. The last issue is the material from which the spacer sleeve is made. There are metal, brass and plastic versions.
