Product description: Portability Shield - overlay with 1.3'' OLED display and joystick - SparkFun DEV-27510
Portability Shield by SparkFun is a complete interface overlay that adds a set of functions useful in field applications to compatible development boards. On board we will find a Li-Pol battery socket, MCP73831T charger with a charging current of approx. 500 mA , MAX17048 battery level indicator and a power switch with LM66200 diode ensuring low current consumption in sleep mode (~4 μA). Thanks to the 1.3" OLED display, five-way joystick and microSD slot it is possible to create full user interfaces, data logging and menu operation. Communication with components is carried out via I2C (for OLED, joystick and battery indicator) and SPI (for microSD card). The module has been designed for compatibility with many boards - including RTK Postcard , with which it creates a complete mobile kit.

Special Features
- 1.3-inch OLED display - works on I2C bus, default address 0x3D (can be changed to 0x3C)
- 5-way joystick - powered by the PCA9554 GPIO port expander, provides intuitive interface navigation
- Friction-fit microSD slot - allows data to be written using the SPI interface
- Power supply from Li-Pol battery or via VIN line (5 V) - integrated MCP73831T charger with maximum current of 500 mA
- Built-in battery charge level indicator - MAX17048 chip with I2C communication
- ON/OFF switch - implemented using the LM66200 diode, ensures minimal current consumption in sleep mode (~4 μA)
Practical applications
SparkFun Portability Shield is ideal for projects that require portability, battery power, and user interaction in the field. It can be used for mobile data collection, location devices, diagnostic systems, and field controllers. Perfect as an interface for boards such as RTK Postcard and others compatible with the SparkFun format.
