A great addition to wireless communication systems
Raspberry Pi minicomputers from the Compute Module 4 (CM4) and Compute Module 5 (CM5) series can be additionally equipped with an antenna module. The receiving antenna for Pi CM4 / CM5 is equipped with a standard SMA-U.FL connector, compatible with the connector on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module CM4 / CM5 board. The antenna supports wireless communication in the Wi-Fi network in the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz band, as well as the Bluetooth protocol. The antenna was designed mainly for devices enclosed in housings that require the antenna to be placed outside the housing outline.
Raspberry Pi Antenna Certification
A very important reason for introducing the antenna to the market is certification issues. Wireless communication via WiFi and Bluetooth is certified in the European Union countries and in the United States of America. However, if we intend to use an additional antenna, the certification covers the module only with the antenna from the set. There is no problem to use another antenna in the application, but then you have to go through the certification process again, which can be time-consuming and require additional legalization activities. The offered antenna is fully legal and is certified.
