Product description: Fermion - ToF distance sensor TMF8801- 2,5m - I2C - DFRobot SEN0430
DFRobot Fermion module with the time-of-flight (ToF) distance sensor TMF8801, which can measure at a proximity range of 2 cm to 10 cm and at a distance range of 10 cm to 250 cm. The device measures with an accuracy of ±5% in both well-lit and dark environments. The sensor measures distance based on the time difference between light pulses. It detects objects regardless of the color, reflectance and texture of the object. The module uses an I2C interface for communication and is powered by 2.7 V to 3.3 V .
Main features of the TMF8801 distance sensor
- 21° FOI, detects objects closest to center
- Measuring range from 20 mm to 2500 mm
- Measures in well-lit and dark environments with ±5% accuracy
- Built-in histogram to compensate for dirt and streaks on the cover glass
- 940 nm VCSEL class 1 eye safety
- Low power consumption:
- up to 940 μA at 10 Hz (proximity mode)
- Up to 26 mA at 60 Hz (distance and proximity mode)
- Up to 0.26 μA in sleep mode (EN=0)
Application of the module
- Proximity detection
- Presence detection
- Object detection
- Distance measurement
- Collision avoidance
