USB cables are designed for wired communication between two devices. We can use them to quickly and easily connect peripheral devices such as camera, speakers, printer, keyboard or computer mouse to a computer, network charger or TV. With USB cables we can extend the capabilities and functionality of a laptop or desktop computer in many directions, as well as transfer data from one device to another. Communication between them does not require installation of extra drivers, which is a great convenience and advantage of this solution. The work of USB cables is based on the host principle, which is responsible for verifying the used mode of information exchange between two devices. The collected data is used to give appropriate addresses to the connected devices. On the cable we can find four cables, two of which are responsible for data transmission. In the case of newer generation cables there are eight of them, and data transmission is possible with four of them.

USB cables vs. connector type
USB cables differ in parameters, including the type of connector. On their basis, several types of cables have been distinguished, which are equipped with different plugs. This is an important element, which determines the cable's matching to a particular device and its input. The most popular solution is a USB cable with an A-type connector. It is a port with an elongated, rectangular shape, which is commonly used in computers, laptops but also cell phone chargers. They have their mini equivalent, which used to be popular with mp3 and mp4 players and navigation, among others. Currently it is not used anymore. Another type of USB cable is a cable with a type B port. It is characterized by a more square shape and truncated top corners. We can find it in printers and monitors, i.e. in office equipment. In the case of the mini version we can sometimes find it at cash registers. We also have a C-type USB, whose plug has an elongated shape and rounded edges. Its characteristic feature is its versatility, because it can be used from all sides due to its symmetry, short and thin form. It is used wherever there is a greater demand for power, i.e. during the transfer of audio and video files.
USB cables vs. standards
USB cables can also be classified according to standards. The first cables were made in 1996 and were USB 1.0 and 1.1. Two data transfer speeds could be used - 1.5 Mb/s and 12 Mb/s. However, important errors affecting the quality and comfort of use were observed. Thus, significant changes were introduced and so USB 2.0 was created with a power consumption of 500 mA. Their bandwidth remains at 480 Mbps. However, in their case the data is transmitted in one direction only. This problem is eliminated by USB 3.0, which consumes little power, because only 900 mA, has a high bandwidth of up to Gb/s, and at the same time allows for both sending and receiving data at the same time, the transfer can take place in two directions. The USB 3.0 cables have been given four additional cables, which resulted in a very short data transfer time.
Currently we can choose between USB 2.0 and 3.0 cables. The second type is characterized by faster data transmission and higher throughput. It is also an option for those who care about energy efficiency and compatibility with all devices. The Botland store offers USB cables with all currently used plugs, as well as 2.0 and 3.0 generation. We also have a special solution that works well in more demanding projects. These are USB hubs, thanks to which we can connect several devices under one USB socket. We also recommend special adapters, thanks to which we can connect any device to the socket without compatibility problems. Compare the types of cables and decide on the option best suited to your expectations.
