Product description: Dust / air purity sensor PM1.0 / PM2.5 / PM10 - 5V UART - PlanTower PMSA003-A
A laser dust sensor module that allows you to measure the degree of air purity. Enables precise analysis of the pollutants in the environment as it measures the concentration of PM1.0 / PM2.5 / PM10 particles. During the measurement, detects a 0.3 μm diameter particles. Contaminants of this type include, among others cigarette smoke and car exhaust fumes. The PMSA003 sensor supply votlage is 5 V. The communication of the sensor with the microcontroller is via the UART interface, which operates at voltages with a logical level of 3.3 V.
The module is equipped with a silent fan that accurately transports the particles during the measurement. The sensor has a blue protective foil (shown in the photo).
The voltage on the signal lines RX, TX, RESET, SET must not exceed 3.3 V. When controlling the module with a higher voltage, we recommend using a voltage converter . |

Characteristics of the PMSA003 sensor
The PMSA003 is a digital sensor designed to test the number of particles suspended in the air. The dust level of PM1.0 / PM2.5 / PM10.0 is digitized according to the UART interface specification. This sensor can be used to build various instruments designed to measure the concentration of airborne particles, as well as in other equipment designed to evaluate environmental parameters in real time.
How does the PMSA003 air purity sensor work?
The PMSA003 sensor bases its operation on the emission of laser light. The laser light emitted into the atmosphere is scattered by solid particles present in it. On this basis, an internal algorithm calculates a time domain light scattering curve. The final result of the concentration of solid particles in the air is calculated according to the theory of MIE solutions. By using PlanTower air purity sensors, accurate measurements can be obtained.
