Product description: Soft Power Switch Mk2 - power switch with JST 2mm connector - SparkFun SPX-25365
Soft Power Switch Mk2 - JST 2mm is a compact, digital power switch that enables intelligent management of switching on and off of electronic systems. It was designed as an improved version of Mk1, eliminating the influence of temperature and component tolerances on the operation of the system. Based on the D flip-flop (74LVC1G175), it guarantees reliability and low power consumption (<1 µA at 3.75 V). It allows cooperation with a microcontroller , thanks to which it can signal the button status and force software power off. It supports voltage up to 5.5 V and a maximum current of 2 A (4 A at peak, protected by a fuse). Thanks to JST 2 mm connectors, it is an ideal solution for devices with a built-in battery, also providing support for the charging function.
Key Features of Soft Power Switch Mk2
- Intelligent power control - works like a laptop on/off button, allows for soft system shutdown
- Hard power off - holding the button for about 10 seconds forces the device to turn off
- Compatibility with a microcontroller - the Push signal informs about the button status, and the off signal allows for programmatic power off
- Battery Charging Support - Allows current to flow back to the battery in systems with a built-in charger
- Low power consumption - current consumption less than 1 µA at 3.75 V (with LEDs off)
- Overload protection - 2A fuse (4A peak) protects against excessive current draw
- Compact size - 25.4 x 25.4 mm PCB
Soft Power Switch Mk2 Leads - JST 2mm
The module is equipped with several key pins enabling integration with a microcontroller and external components. VIN is the power input, while VOUT provides voltage to the load. GND acts as the ground of the system. BTN allows you to connect an external button between BTN and GND. PUSH is an open-drain output that signals the button status (requires pulling up to VCC). OFF allows you to programmatically turn off the system by providing a high state.
Practical applications
- Devices with a built-in battery - ideal for systems with a closed power source
- IoT Projects and Microcontrollers - possibility of controlling the power supply via an electronic system
- Prototypes and portable devices - provides convenient on and off without mechanical switches
- Power supply for embedded modules and systems - enables energy management in low-voltage devices
