Product description: SparkFun Tristimulus Color Sensor - color sensor - OPT4048DTSR - Qwiic - SparkFun SEN-22638
The Tristimulus Color Sensor manufactured by SparkFun is equipped with a fast and precise Tristimulus XYZ OPT4048 color and light sensor from Texas Instruments. It allows the user to determine the characteristics of ambient light by measuring high resolution color in the CIE XY space, LUV, correlated color temperature (CCT) along with measuring ambient lux. Enables four-channel color detection using precise optical filters. The board is also equipped with two Qwiic connectors, which enable quick connection to other peripheral devices (without the need for soldering).
Also check out the manufacturer's user guide to help you get started with the sensor.
Special features of the module
- Three of the four channels of the OPT4048DTSR closely reproduce the CIE spectral responses, the fourth channel has a broadband spectral response.
- Thanks to measurements from the channels, it is possible to extract basic features of the lighting environment, such as (i) light intensity (lux), (ii) color in CIE XY, LUV coordinates and (iii) correlated color temperature.
- XYZ channels with a close match to CIE 1931 spectra have excellent infrared attenuation.
- The broadband channel has no interference.
- The module has a semi-logarithmic output with seven binary logarithmic light ranges.
- It can be used in projects where precise measurement of the characteristics of the lighting environment is crucial (display brightness, color temperature adjustment, camera color temperature correction, object true color recognition and medical applications).
