AAA (R3) batteries – small but powerful
Each standard AAA battery (R3, R03) has a nominal voltage of 1.5V - however, this only applies to batteries as such, which should not be confused with rechargeable batteries of the same dimensions. The best R3 batteries available today have the prefix L, then their type is written as LR03 - the additional letter means that we are dealing with alkaline batteries.
Finger batteries of this type were produced using a different technology. Moreover, this type of battery has much better parameters (primarily higher capacity) than ordinary, slightly cheaper R03 batteries. With greater capacity, the operating time of the powered device increases.
Alkaline batteries - what else makes them stand out?
Alkaline batteries also perform better in applications with higher peak current consumption compared to regular batteries. AAA battery (less often: triple AAA battery), commonly known as "little fingers", is a standard size of dry cell battery. AAA batteries are also classified as LR03 (IEC), 24A (ANSI/NEDA), R03, MN2400, AM4, UM4, HP16 and micro. The diameter of the AAA battery is 10.5mm and the length is 45mm. The AAA designation is commercial.
AA batteries have physical dimensions of 14.5mm x 50.5mm, while AAA batteries have physical dimensions of 10.5mm x 44.5mm. Due to the larger capacity of AA batteries, AA batteries usually have a larger capacity than AAA batteries.
The capacity of an AAA battery depends on the technology and the company that produced it. However, it is quite similar in almost every battery - it is approximately 1000 mAh. The capacity may therefore range from 900 mAh to 1100 mAh. Larger batteries offer greater capacity.
