Characteristics of the SDS018 sensor
The SDS018 sensor, designed for measuring air quality, operates on the principle of laser light scattering. The laser beam is scattered as particles pass through the detection area. The scattered light is converted into electrical signals, which are amplified and converted into a PWM signal. The concentration and diameter of particulate matter in the air are determined based on the analysis, as the PWM signal waveform reflects the physical dimensions of PM2.5 particles. The SDS018 sensor can be used in applications such as air purification systems and measurement systems for assessing air quality.
SDS018 air quality sensor lifespan
Service life is one of the most important technical parameters of the SDS018 air quality sensor. Thanks to the use of a high-quality laser-emitting diode, the sensor can operate without failure for at least 8,000 hours. If your application requires precise time measurement, you can use the SDS018 sensor in the default mode, which takes a measurement every second. However, if your application does not require precise time measurement, you can enable a second mode, in which the sensor takes a measurement once every 30 seconds. This mode significantly extends the sensor's service life.
