Description
The executive module with a MOSFET transistor with a pair of channels P to control devices with higher current consumption than allowed by the control system, for example, minicomputerRaspberry Pi. The module provides the supply voltage from 2 V to 20 V at the current consumption of up to 6 A.
The use of the switch MOSFET
During the basic use, just connect power and ground (pins VIN and GND) and control the voltage VOUT using the built-in slide switch. To use an external switch, connect it between the GND and SW pins after the previous setting of the embedded switch in the OFF position.
Connection example of the external switch
Even in the OFF position, there is the possibility of monitoring the status of a switch via a digital signal (e.g. from a microcontroller) via ON pin. Low status or lack of connection leaves the switch in the OFF position, the setting of approx. 1 V at this pin, changes the switch status to "ON". The maximum value of the voltage on the ON pin can be 30 V, regardless of the voltage VIN.
The pins are the solder fields for soldering thegoldpin connectors(2.54 mm pitch). Thanks to them, it is possible to connect the system to thebreadboardor the main module (for example,STM32DiscoveryorArduino) viawires.
For the MOSFET system, the power heating the board is proportional to the square of the flowing current. With a typical current of 3 A, it reaches the temperature of 55 °C and it becomes noticeably warm and safe. With the appropriate heat dissipation, it can reach a value of 6 A. However, it is recommended to take special precautions since the MOSFET transistor can heat up to a temperature of 150 °C.
