Description: Zumo - minisumo robot for Arduino v1.2 - complex

Recently, robot tournaments have been very popular in Poland. They are organized in many large Polish cities. Participants can be: pupils, students and other amateur robotics. Among many categories, the most interesting is minisumo, i.e. fights of robots with dimensions of 10 x 10 cm and weight up to 500 g.

Zumo is a platform that meets the requirements of this class. This version has an assembled chassis with 75:1 HP motors, a combat plough and a control plate with a connector for Arduino. To start the fun just insertthe batteries - four big fingers, plug in the Arduino module(UnoorLeonardo) and program the robot by connecting it to the computer via USB cable.

Arduino compatible product

The manufacturer has prepared auser guideanda library with sample programsfor Arduino users.

What is in the set?

The product contains electronic and mechanical elements necessary for proper functioning of the robot. The user has it at his disposal:

  • two DC motors with75:1 HPgearbox (400 rpm, 1,6 kg*cm),
  • mountedstrip with rebound sensors- for detecting ring edges (dohyo),
  • integrated motor controller - two-channel bridgeH DRV8835,
  • simple sound generator -piezobuzzer,
  • 3-axis digital accelerometer withLSM303Dmagnetometer - can be used as a system to detect collisions with opponents,
  • 3-axis digital gyroscopeL3GD20H- for measuring angular speed (robot rotation detection),
  • a button at the user's disposal connected to output 12 of Arduino, which can be used e.g. to select start mode,
  • a voltage stabilizing converter with four AA batteries,
  • LED connected to output 13 of Arduino,
  • a place to solder your own arrangements,
  • a detaileduser guide,
  • of the Arduino libraryto all the electronic components mentioned above.

In order to start working with the robot you need Arduino module, you can useUnoorLeonardoversion and fourAA batteries- popular big fingers.

Additional elements

The motherboard allows you to connect various types of additional elements. The user can use, for example, a sensor to detect an opponent in the ring. For this purpose, optical sensorsorultrasonic sonarscan be used.
