Product description: reTerminal DM – HMI device with Raspberry Pi CM4 and 10.1" touch screen – SeeedStudio 114070201
reTerminal DM is an HMI/Panel PC device manufactured by SeeedStudio. It is based on the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 module equipped with a quad-core Cortex A72 processor clocked at 1.5 GHz. It has 8 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC memory , with the possibility of expansion via the M.2 NVMe port. It has a touch display with a diagonal of 10.1" and a resolution of 1280 x 800 px . The module supports WiFi , LoRaWAN, 4G LTE and Bluetooth LE wireless communication. It is also possible to connect devices via interfaces such as: Gigabit Ethernet , CAN Bus , RS485 , RS232 . reTerminal DM is also equipped with external isolated digital connectors : 4 x DI, 4 x DO. There are also 40 Raspberry Pi-compatible GPIO pins inside the device. The manufacturer provides support for the Raspberry Pi OS and SenseCraft Edge OS operating systems. The whole has an IP65 tightness class and allows installation on a Din-Rail rail or via a VESA mount.
What are HMI devices?
reTerminal DM is an example of an HMI (Human-Machine Interface) device. It is the interface between a machine or industrial process and the operator who operates it. Its main task is to transmit information about the status of the subordinate system and enable its control through an appropriate interface. For this purpose, the manufacturer has enabled the connection of various types of sensors and actuators to the device via wireless protocols such as LoRaWAN, WiFi, BLE, as well as industrial serial interfaces RS485, RS232, CAN Bus or isolated DI/DO digital pins . To control the module, there is a 10.1" touchscreen color display on the front panel.
Built-in touch display
The biggest change compared to its predecessor in reTerminal DM is the use of a larger, capacitive touch display. Its diagonal is 10.1'' and the resolution is 1280 x 800 px . The matrix used ensures high viewing angles , 8-bit color depth and luminance of 400 nits. 7H hardness combined with the IP65 tightness class guarantee safe use regardless of external conditions.
Main features of reTerminal DM

- 10.1'' touch display, capacitive with a resolution of 1280 x 800 px
- Wireless communication WiFi, LoRaWAN, Bluetooth LE and 4G LTE
- RS485, RS232, CAN bus interfaces,
- Gigabit Ethernet, 2 x USB2.0 A, 1 x USB2.0 C
- 4 x DI and 4 x DO connectors
- 40-pin GPIO connector compatible with Raspberry Pi
- IP65 tightness class
- Expandable, modular design
- Can be mounted on a panel, DIN rail or VESA mount
- Low power consumption: 9W maximum
To use 4G LTE, WiFi or LoRa communication, you must purchase a dedicated module with an antenna.
Many power supply and installation options
The reTerminal DM is powered via a 2-pin screw connector or PoE . In the former case, the voltage can range from 12 V to 24 V. PoE (Power over Ethernet) allows you to power the device from the RJ45 Ethernet socket. For this purpose, it must be equipped with a dedicated module. The input voltage is then 44 V to 47 V.
To facilitate the installation of the device, the manufacturer has provided kits for mounting on the front panel and the popular DIN Rail . It is also possible to use a VESA mount.
