X-NUCLEO-NFC07A1 - NFC/RFID Tag - expansion board for STM32 Nucleo

Index: MAS-22852
NUCLEO-NFC07A1 from STMicroelectronics is a shield for STM32 modules from the Nucleo series. The board is based on the dynamic NFC tag system - ST25DV64KC, with 64 kB of EEPROM memory. It enables communication with the microcontroller via the I2C interface, through a connector compatible with Arduino UNO R3. The system is based on the ISO/IEC 15693 standard and is an NFC type 5 tag. The maximum data transmission rate is 53 kb/s. It can be powered by the Nucleo module or by an external electromagnetic field after the reader is brought close to it. It has an antenna with a diameter of 54 mm integrated in the PCB.

Product description: X-NUCLEO-NFC07A1 - NFC/RFID tag - extension to STM32 Nucleo

Thanks to the connector on the upper side of the board, it is possible to use more modules.

The manufacturer provides libraries and sample software compatible with the STM32Cube environment.

The module has an antenna integrated in the board.

How does an NFC tag work?

NFC (Near-field communication) is a wireless communication standard with a short range (up to 20 cm) using high frequencies (13.56 MHz ± 7 kHz). This technology was popularized mainly in the form of contactless payments or access cards. It is an extension of the contactless card standard - ISO/IEC 14443 .

An NFC tag is a small device, often in the form of a card, key ring or sticker. It has an antenna and a small integrated circuit that stores previously programmed information. After approaching the reader, it is powered and starts transmitting data. The possibility of reprogramming the system (e.g. ST25DV64KC) allows for repeated use of one tag for many applications.
