WiFi 6 and Bluetooth provide the ability to remotely control the robot.

Main features of the Go2 Air

  • Ultra-wide-angle 4D LiDAR L1 : 360° x 90° field of view, minimal blind spots, object detection from 0.05 m - ideal for mapping and obstacle avoidance
  • 8000 mAh basic battery : provides 1 to 2 hours of operation, optionally available with a higher capacity battery
  • Speed up to approximately 2.5 m/s : sufficient for home, educational and light mobility applications
  • Lightweight and stable : Approximately 7kg load capacity, the design ensures stability for light tasks and simple use
  • Wireless connectivity and control : WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, optional 4G module, mobile app, control via graphical interface
  • Optimized cooling and design : aluminum joints, heat pipes, and hidden wiring improve durability and user comfort
  • Interactions and gestures : basic poses and movements: jumping, sitting, rolling, stretching - a good start to learning robotics and AI
  • OTA system : remote software updates, new features without the need for physical intervention
  • Mobile app and graphical programming : user-friendly interface for creating your own robot behaviors for beginners and educators

Basic perception and movement adaptation

The Go2 Air uses LiDAR L1 and a wide-angle HD camera , enabling basic space mapping, obstacle detection, and orientation even in low-light conditions. Thanks to basic AI algorithms, the robot can navigate slopes and avoid obstacles . The mechanical design has been optimized for stability, including robotic joints and cooling. although simpler than the Pro and Edu versions, they guarantee long-term functionality in hobby and educational use.

Mobility and design

The Go2 Air can handle inclines of up to approximately 30° , step heights of up to approximately 15 cm , and a maximum speed of up to approximately 2.5 m/s, making it suitable for use at home, in the lab, or for light field work. Weighing approximately 15 kg (33 lbs) with the battery, its aluminum alloy and engineering plastic construction allows for easy portability and transport without excessive bulk. Because the Air version has fewer extras (e.g., lower cooling capacity, basic connectivity modules), it is less complex to service and more affordable.

Through large-scale simulation using artificial intelligence, the Go2 robot learned advanced walking techniques such as walking upside down, adaptively tumbling, and overcoming obstacles.

An optimized obstacle avoidance strategy is available in the Go2 Pro and Edu versions.

Interaction and connectivity

The Go2 Air offers control via a mobile app or an additional remote control , as well as optional gesture and voice control. WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity ensure stable communication in home and school environments. The Go2 Air lacks the ISS 2.0 module or voice functionality , which distinguishes it from the Pro and Edu versions, but makes it more accessible and less complex. Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates allow for remote updates , ensuring the robot's capabilities evolve with new software releases.

Comfort of use and simplicity of operation

The Go2 Air was designed with simplicity in mind – easy assembly, intuitive application, and fewer operating components than more advanced versions. Thanks to its lower hardware requirements, it is less expensive to maintain and more predictable to operate and use by those just starting their robotics journey. This model is ideal for introductory STEM projects , hands-on education, demonstrations, and exhibitions.

Question: Good day, does the version of the robot unitree go2 air support the official SDK? E.g. in application with own raspberry pi with Ros2 connected directly to the robot via ethernet.
Answer: Officially, only the Go2 Edu version fully supports the SDK, in the Go2 X version it is partial, while the Pro and Air models are not supported.
Unofficial support can be found online, such as https://github.com/abizovnuralem/go2_ros2_sdk, but there is no guarantee here that everything will work as expected.
