The Atom DTU LoRaWAN-EU868 module from M5Stack is a versatile data transmitter equipped with a built-in LoRaWAN protocol stack , supporting connections to servers such as TTN, ChirpStack, Actility , and others. It operates in the 868 MHz to 870 MHz frequency range with high receive sensitivity down to -137 dBm . It offers two activation methods: OTAA and ABP . Thanks to its industrial-grade RS485 connector and UART interface, it is suitable for integration with a wide range of systems. The module is designed for mounting on a 35 mm DIN rail , simplifying installation in switchboards and control cabinets.

Pins and interfaces - how to connect the module
The module offers two connection modes: Fixed Connect and Switch Connect . Depending on the selected controller (e.g., AtomS3, AtomS3R, Atom Matrix), the UART and RS485 pins will be assigned to different GPIO pins.
Example pin assignment:
- AtomS3R / AtomS3R-CAM / AtomS3R-M12 : UART TX: G5, UART RX: G6, RS485 TX: G7, RS485 RX: G8
- Atom Lite / Atom Matrix : UART TX: G22, UART RX: G19, RS485 TX: G23, RS485 RX: G33
RS485 power supply: VCC: 5 V, GND: GND
Equipped with a Grove interface and an SMA connector for the antenna.

Connection, compatibility and programming
The module can be programmed using the following platforms:
- Arduino IDE - full M5-LoRaWAN-RAK library
- UiFlow 1 / UiFlow 2 - (support in preparation)
UART communication using AT Commands makes configuration and integration with a host system intuitive. The module supports integration with TTN, ChirpStack, Actility, and other LoRaWAN platforms.
