The LoRa ( Long Range) communication standard is a response to the needs of today's world of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and related applications, including Smart City or industrial telemetry. Thanks to a special way of modulating signals and through the use of sensitive receivers optimized to work with very weak radio signals, devices equipped with LoRa transceivers can communicate with each other over surprisingly long distances - up to 15 km in open terrain, although some experiments have shown that in favorable conditions this range can be much longer.

LoRa's advantage is its extremely low power consumption, which allows battery- or battery-powered devices to operate without interruption and for many years. This is because data transfer takes place in small packets, sent relatively infrequently, which distinguishes it from "power-consuming" standards such as GSM/LTE or WiFi. What's more - LoRa was also the basis for the LoRaWAN network protocol, allowing to connect end devices (e.g. remote sensors) to the Internet, using special hubs (gateways).
LoRa modules in the Botland store
In our offer you will find dozens of modules and devices, compatible with the LoRa standard and allowing you to both build your own IoT network and access the existing LoRaWAN infrastructure. A good choice to start with would be one of the communication modules, allowing you to quickly prototype your own concepts - such as the Arduino-compatible Feather M0 +433MHz RFM96 module or the Feather 32u4 RFM95 radio transmitter.
For those professionally involved in the implementation of IoT technologies, we have, among others, RG186 network gateways, operating in the 868 Mhz band, LoraWAN remote temperature and humidity sensors by Laird Connectivity, or the state-of-the-art SenseCAP S2105 electrical conductivity, temperature and soil moisture sensors.
