Product description: Proto Tripler PiCowbell - prototyping board for Raspberry Pi Pico / PicoW - STEMMA QT / Qwiic - Adafruit 5967
The Proto Tripler PiCowBell from Adafruit is a versatile prototyping board designed for the Raspberry Pi Pico and Pico W that simplifies connecting sensors, displays, and power. It features three 2x20 pin headers , allowing you to mount the Pico and two expansion modules without having to solder. The built-in JST PH connectors support Li-Pol / Li-Ion batteries (USB charging, default 500 mA) and alkaline / NiMH batteries by cutting the appropriate jumper. The power switch allows you to completely disconnect the 3.3V power supply . The STEMMA QT / Qwiic connector allows you to quickly connect I2C devices, and with EYE SPI you can add color SPI displays to your project. The board also offers a prototyping solder area with pin labels and gold-plated pads. Thanks to the dual row headers, you can easily connect wires for testing or use with other prototyping boards. The board also has a reset button and battery charge indicators (LEDs). Perfect for portable projects and solderless prototyping.

Proto Tripler PiCowbell Key Features
- Three 2x20 pin sockets : allow for mounting of Raspberry Pi Pico and two expansion modules, providing an additional row of pins
- JST PH connector : supports Li-Ion / Li-Pol batteries and alkaline / NiMH batteries (after cutting the "disable charge" jumper)
- Li-Pol / Li-Ion Charging Circuit : Supports 3.7V / 4.2V batteries with a default charging current of 500mA (can be reduced to 250mA). LED indicators show the charging status - orange (charging) and green (fully charged)
- Power Switch : connected to the Enable Pico pin, allows you to completely disconnect the 3.3V power supply
- JST SH connector (STEMMA QT / Qwiic): allows quick connection of I2C peripherals or use as GPIO. Provides access to SDA (IO4) and SCL (IO5) pins
- Duplicate Pads : Almost every Pico pin has an extra solder pad for easy bridging
- Gold-plated pads : facilitate the soldering process and ensure the durability of the connections
Supports charging Li-Pol / Li-Ion batteries
The Tripler board supports both Li-Polymer and Li-Ion batteries , allowing Pico projects to be used in mobile mode. Simply connect a 3.7V/4.2V battery with the appropriate JST 2-PH connector and correct polarity. The battery charges automatically when Pico is powered via USB , and seamlessly switches to the battery when USB is disconnected. The default charging current is 500mA, which is suitable for batteries of 500mAh and above . You can lower the charging current to 250mA by cutting the jumper on the bottom of the board - for batteries from 250mAh to 500mAh. A slide switch connected to the Enable pin allows you to completely disconnect the 3.3V power supply, effectively "powering down" Pico. Additionally, it is possible to use alkaline or NiMH batteries (e.g. 3 x AA or 3 x AAA), after cutting the appropriate jumper , which disconnects the charging system from the battery. In the case of NiMH batteries, an external charger is required.
STEMMA QT and EYESPI connectors
With the JST SH connector, compatible with Qwiic / STEMMA QT, you can quickly connect I2C sensors or other devices . By default, the connector provides access to IO4 (SDA) and IO5 (SCL) pins. Using EYESPI and an FPC cable with an 18-pin connector, it is possible to connect high-resolution screens . However, please note that the EYESPI connector does not support the full functionality of E-Ink displays, which require additional Busy and Reset pins.
